a Website Analytics/Evaluator (P-T Contract Position)

The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), a national non-profit organization based in Boulder, Colorado, seeks a professional evaluator to supplement the current evaluation team. This is a part-time contract position. Hours may vary throughout the year, though a minimum number of hours can be guaranteed, if necessary.

NCWIT works to increase women's meaningful participation in technology and computing by leveraging the efforts of organizations across the country through sharing research- and evidence-based practices for recruiting, retaining and advancing girls and women in computing. These NCWIT resources and the various programs in place to spread awareness and increase female participation are all evaluated by the NCWIT evaluation team.

This contract position will report to the NCWIT Director of Evaluation, and will also work directly with other program and Communications staff and contractors to communicate about data gathering and results. The main purpose of this position is to gather Google Analytics on our website(s), but depending on skillsets, this position may do other quantitative data analyses and database analytics for the organization, and may conduct interviews with website users. In terms of website analytics, we examine visitor behavior as well as undertake close analyses of 150+ “resources” we publish on our site. In these endeavors, we work closely with the Communications team, the Social Science team, and the Technology team. This position will be filled only by someone who is a Power User of Google Analytics and Microsoft Excel; other software or data analytics experience is a plus.

Tasks will include (but not limited to):

  • Collecting quarterly analytics on the and our companion sites
  • Setting up custom reports, auto reports and dashboards in Google Analytics
  • Monitoring and tracking digital campaign effectiveness
  • Serving as the subject matter expert on web analytics and staying current on industry best practices
  • Providing training to team members on web analytics basics
  • Responding to ad hoc requests
  • Storing all data according to agreed-upon specifications in a password-protected folder on our server
  • Analyzing data for trends and communicating those with relevant staff and collaborators
  • Working closely with relevant staff to ensure Analytics data is incorporated into improvement strategies
  • Interacting professionally with collaborators and NCWIT staff
  • Meeting with and providing regular reports to NCWIT Director of Evaluation and other staff, as necessary

The Ideal Candidate for this Position will have:

  • At least 3 years of quantitative data analysis experience
  • At least 1 year of website analytics experience
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in data analysis
  • Advanced skills in MS Office software (particularly Excel)
  • Experience using Data Visualization software
  • Experience using various sharing platforms (e.g., Google docs, DropBox, etc.)
  • Proven success in planning, prioritization, organization and self-direction
  • Professional interpersonal skills (strong verbal and written communications)
  • Ability to work comfortably on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with many groups within the organization
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently on multiple assigned projects with limited direction
  • Resourceful with a proven track record of getting things done
  • Superb analytic skills
  • Outstanding writing skills
  • Desire for continued learning

Standout Candidates will also have:

  • Background in education, organizational change, social sciences or other related field
  • Experience or formal training in website usability
  • Experience or formal training in conducting interviews and/or focus groups
  • Experience working in a Drupal environment
  • Experience with extracting and analyzing data from databases
  • Commitment to gender and racial equity issues
