Background 
Dr. Gretchen Achenbach is a Research Scientist with NCWIT and a Research Associate in Science, Technology, and Society at the University of Virginia. At NCWIT, which she joined in 2014, Dr. Achenbach creates research-based resources to raise awareness and provide the information needed to implement change in girls’ and women’s representation in computing and technology. With her background in environmental education, psychology, and the study of animal behavior, she brings a history of communicating science to a variety of audiences to a position that advances one of her primary interests, opportunities for girls and women. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Vermont and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
