Changing the Narrative About Aging, Tech and Innovation

The world is aging and changing—are your strategies as well? This interactive session will cover:

  • what the general public believes about aging and ageism in America
  • the intersectionality of gender, race, and age
  • how ageism and implicit bias manifests itself across talent pipeline development
  • why common stereotypes are just that
  • why it is smart to include all ages in your pipeline strategy

Participants will also learn specific actions that K-12, higher education, workforce development, and HR managers can take to reduce implicit bias and to reap the benefits of age-friendly and inter-generational workplaces.

Learning About Intersectionality: Videos That Spark Discussion

The language around gender, sex, sexuality, race, and disability is constantly evolving, and it can be difficult to keep up! The objective of this workshop is to help attendees learn to talk about different dimensions of identity. This tutorial will be organized into three topics, which will each include two short videos, individual reflection, small-group discussion, and Q&A. The intended audience is for those who are interested in expanding their understanding of current terminology related to identity. Attendees can share these videos and discussion questions with their colleagues who may not be able to join online at the specified time.
